Daelena Potter began her career as a special education teacher serving middle school students in Lexington, Kentucky. Her passion for special education continued to grow as she taught in Cimarron and Raton, New Mexico, before moving into leadership roles as a Special Education Coordinator and ultimately a Special Education Director.
Daelena served as a Special Education Director at Cimarron Municipal Schools and later at Pecos Cyber Academy, bringing a combined 11 years of leadership experience to the field. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to support educators, administrators, students, and families while navigating the many moving pieces of special education.
In addition to her school-based experience, Daelena has served as an Educational Consultant with the Region IX Mentorship Program and is a member of NMCASE. Through her own educational consulting business, she provides training, mentoring, and support to new teachers and administrators across New Mexico and Texas.
Daelena's specialty is reviewing and writing IEPs, but her true passion is supporting the people behind the paperwork. She believes new teachers and administrators deserve someone in their corner who can answer questions, provide practical guidance, and help them feel confident in their roles.
Communication, teamwork, honesty, and integrity are the foundation of Daelena's work. She approaches every partnership with the goal of making special education more manageable, meaningful, and student-centered.
Outside of her professional life, Daelena is a wife and mom to three boys. Her family, her experiences in education, and her passion for helping others continue to inspire the work she does every day.
